## Understand an otpauth setup link

A setup link carries the information an authenticator needs: a secret, optional issuer and account labels, algorithm, digit count and period. This decoder accepts standard otpauth://totp/ links and displays those settings in a readable table. The secret is masked in the result.

## What do the settings mean?

The algorithm determines the HMAC hash used to calculate a code. Digits controls its displayed length. Period is the number of seconds in one interval. These settings need to match the service, so use the values supplied with your setup rather than choosing them at random.

## Supported formats

This tool supports TOTP links. Counter-based HOTP and multi-account migration exports use different formats and are not imported here. A plain Base32 key is accepted with default settings, but has no issuer or account information to inspect.
